TeslaMirror Single-app Casting: permissions and settings by phone manufacturer

Complete the common pairing steps, then check the settings for your phone brand. Covers TeslaMirror 9.90, screen-off checks, troubleshooting, and revoking access.

Reviewed: September 28, 2026. Written for everyday Android users. Complete the steps for all brands first, then read the section for your phone.

This guide describes the TeslaMirror 9.90 workflow. App store availability can vary by region. Older app versions may have different buttons, preparation steps, and screen-off behavior, so check your installed version first.

Single-app Casting requires wireless debugging / ADB authorization. This allows TeslaMirror to start its casting service on your phone. A manufacturer may also restrict ADB control, background activity, or opening an activity from the background. Consequently, pairing successfully does not necessarily mean every feature is ready. This guide requires no computer, commands, root access, or bootloader unlocking.

If a menu has a different name, use the search box in Android Settings. Region, carrier firmware, and system updates can change menu names even within one brand. If an option does not exist, do not change an unrelated security switch just because its name sounds similar.

1. Steps for all brands

1.1 Understand which permissions you need

This guide covers TeslaMirror’s Single-app Casting mode. The screen-recording consent dialog used by other full-screen modes, and microphone or accessibility permissions used by other features, do not replace wireless debugging pairing.

Permission or setting What to do for Single-app Casting Where to look
Android 11 or later Required. Being able to install TeslaMirror does not establish that Single-app Casting is available Settings → About phone → Android version
Wireless debugging and pairing authorization Required to start the ADB casting service Developer options; follow the steps below
TeslaMirror notifications Needed for the notification pairing workflow in this guide; allow the notification request on Android 13+ Long-press the app icon → App info → Notifications
Local network access Android 17 or later may show this request; allow it when prompted System permission dialog or TeslaMirror’s app permissions
VPN connection consent for Tesla Proxy Authorize Step B in the current app to provide the browser connection route Start Tesla Proxy in TeslaMirror and approve the Android VPN prompt
Unrestricted background use / battery optimization exemption Recommended for continuous casting; check it if background operation stops App info → Battery, or the manufacturer’s management screen
Manufacturer-specific ADB security options Conditional; see your brand’s section Usually Developer options
Ordinary USB debugging A separate switch from Wireless debugging; standard wireless pairing does not require a USB connection Only adjust if your phone requires it or you separately use USB debugging
Install via USB / Install unknown apps Not general requirements for this pairing workflow Do not enable them by default for Single-app Casting
OEM unlocking, root, device administrator, disabling system optimization Not requirements in this guide Do not change these to complete this workflow

ADB access is more powerful than a normal app permission. Pair only with the TeslaMirror session you are setting up, and do not share pairing codes with strangers. An authorized ADB connection can perform operations without asking you to approve every operation separately. See the official Android wireless debugging requirements.

1.2 Prepare Wi-Fi and notifications

  1. Unlock your phone normally, open TeslaMirror, and enter Single-app Casting. Keep the phone unlocked during initial preparation.
  2. Connect the phone to a trusted external Wi-Fi network, such as your home router. Enabling the phone’s own hotspot does not mean the phone itself has joined a Wi-Fi network suitable for wireless debugging.
  3. Check hotspot and mobile data settings as instructed by the app’s preparation page. If your phone cannot use external Wi-Fi and its hotspot simultaneously, complete pairing and local service preparation first, as described in 1.5, then switch to the hotspot setup.
  4. Allow TeslaMirror notifications when prompted. If previously denied, long-press the TeslaMirror icon → App info → Notifications, enable notifications, and check that the pairing notification category has not been disabled separately.
  5. If Android asks whether TeslaMirror can access the local network, allow it. Do not search for an Android 17 permission on the Android 16 Samsung example merely because this guide mentions it.
  6. Avoid clearing recent apps or letting a cleanup tool stop TeslaMirror during pairing.

Pairing depends on wireless debugging and local discovery; the Wi-Fi network does not necessarily need internet access. Captive portals, enterprise network restrictions, and VPN filtering can interfere with preparation. If setup fails, compare using an ordinary trusted Wi-Fi network.

1.3 Enable Developer options

  1. Open Android Settings, find About phone, and locate Build number. Samsung, Xiaomi, and other manufacturers may put it inside another page; see the brand sections below.
  2. Tap the appropriate version field about seven times until the phone says developer mode is enabled.
  3. If asked for your screen-lock PIN or password, enter it normally on the phone. It is not your wireless debugging pairing code, and you do not need to send it to anyone.
  4. Return to Settings, open Developer options, and keep its main switch enabled.
  5. Find Wireless debugging and enable it. Approve the current Wi-Fi network only if you trust it.

Enabling ordinary USB debugging, or just the main Developer options switch, does not complete wireless debugging authorization. The Android Developer options documentation also provides example menu locations.

1.4 Enter the six-digit code through the TeslaMirror notification

  1. In TeslaMirror Step A, tap Pair / check connection, then System settings when prompted.
  2. Open the system Wireless debugging page and select Pair device with pairing code.
  3. When the six-digit code appears, leave that system dialog open. Do not close it with Back.
  4. Pull down the notification shade and expand TeslaMirror’s pairing notification. You may need to pull down again or tap the notification’s expand arrow.
  5. Tap the notification’s Pair action, enter the six-digit code, and send it. Do not tap the notification body to return to TeslaMirror: doing so may close the pairing dialog and invalidate its code.
  6. Wait for the pairing result, then return to TeslaMirror. If the page still asks for verification, tap Check connection.
  7. Wait while the app verifies ADB and prepares the local service. A client name appearing under Paired devices is not enough reason to leave Wi-Fi immediately.

You do not need to type an IP address or port, install Shizuku or another casting app, or install desktop ADB tools or USB drivers. If Pair is missing, check notification permission, expand the notification, and start again from Step A. If a code expires, reopen the system pairing-code dialog and use the new code.

1.5 Wait for the local service, then connect the vehicle

The current app distinguishes wireless debugging verification from local service preparation. Wait for “Ready · Offline casting service connected.” Successful pairing alone is not enough.

  1. When the local service is ready, the app says you can disconnect external Wi-Fi. Stay connected while preparation is still in progress.
  2. Enable the phone’s hotspot and connect the browser device to it. In the vehicle, follow the app’s instruction to keep Wi-Fi connected in Drive. Complete setup and testing while parked.
  3. Complete Step B, Start Tesla Proxy. If Android asks for VPN connection consent, confirm it was requested by TeslaMirror and allow it. If another VPN occupies the connection, investigate that conflict rather than granting unrelated permissions.
  4. Step C is optional: select an app now, or choose one from the browser’s App Launcher later.
  5. Tap the green Start button in Step D. In Step E, enter the complete HTTPS address currently displayed by the app into the browser.
  6. Verify the picture and controls with the phone unlocked before testing screen-off behavior.

“Offline casting service” means the local casting connection is prepared. Online videos, music, and other content may still need internet access. Preparation can remain after casting stops, but restarting the phone, cancelling preparation, system termination, or an upgrade may require preparation again. First enable Wireless debugging and check the connection; pair again only if the authorization has expired or been removed.

To use a third-party VPN alongside TeslaMirror, follow the startup order and bypass settings in the Android FAQ.

2. Samsung Galaxy: detailed setup

This section covers Galaxy S, Z, and A devices that actually provide the required wireless debugging features. It is a troubleshooting guide, not a claim that every series and regional firmware has passed TeslaMirror testing.

2.1 Enable wireless debugging

  1. Open Settings → About phone → Software information.
  2. Tap Build number seven times. Enter the phone’s screen-lock PIN if requested.
  3. Return to the main Settings screen and find Developer options near the bottom.
  4. Enable Wireless debugging. If missing, search Settings for “Wireless debugging,” confirm the Developer options master switch is on, and connect the phone to Wi-Fi.
  5. Open the Wireless debugging details and pair through the TeslaMirror notification using section 1.4.

The developer-mode entry is documented by Samsung. If the debugging switch is unavailable or a security message blocks it, continue with 2.2. If pairing already works, you do not need to disable security features first.

2.2 Auto Blocker: change it only when it actually blocks setup

Samsung documents that Auto Blocker blocks commands sent over a USB cable and provides additional protections. That does not establish that every Galaxy wireless ADB connection requires Auto Blocker to be disabled. For wireless debugging, follow what your own phone actually reports. Samsung’s official description

If debugging is unavailable, or the phone explicitly says Auto Blocker is preventing it:

  1. Note the original setting. Open Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker.
  2. Read the system explanation. If you choose to adjust protection for this debugging session, switch Auto Blocker off and complete any on-device confirmation.
  3. Return to Developer options and enable Wireless debugging again. Re-enable the Developer options master switch first if it was turned off.
  4. Return to TeslaMirror and retry pairing or connection verification. Do not change an entire page of developer settings at once.
  5. If still blocked, check whether the message names a device administrator, work profile, or organization policy. Contact that administrator rather than attempting to remove management.

Disabling Auto Blocker reduces the protection it provides beyond TeslaMirror. You can restore its previous state when finished. After restoring it, check whether wireless debugging and the next preparation still work; do not assume debugging will necessarily remain available.

Maximum restrictions is another set of Auto Blocker options, not a TeslaMirror permission. Do not automatically switch off it and every other security feature. Installing TeslaMirror from Google Play also does not require enabling installation from unknown sources. German Samsung feature and menu guide

2.3 Keep TeslaMirror out of sleeping lists

Start with TeslaMirror itself. Adjust the target app separately only if it actually stops in the background.

  1. Long-press TeslaMirror → App info → Battery.
  2. Select Unrestricted if available. If the phone instead offers Allow background usage, allow background operation using that screen. Samsung’s app battery guidance
  3. Search Settings for Background usage limits. A common path is Battery and device care → Battery → Background usage limits; some versions enter directly from Battery.
  4. Check Sleeping apps and Deep sleeping apps. If TeslaMirror is listed, use the list’s removal action. This removes it from the sleeping list; it does not uninstall the app.
  5. If Never sleeping apps is available, tap + and add TeslaMirror. Some screens may omit an app that is already unrestricted; if you cannot select it, check steps 2 and 4 rather than clearing app data. Samsung’s sleeping-app instructions

These changes reduce background interruptions; they cannot guarantee that Android will never terminate an app under memory pressure, overheating, or other conditions. For an initial comparison, temporarily turn off Power saving. If that resolves the problem, decide whether to keep it off during casting rather than disabling battery management for every app.

2.4 Notifications, networking, and user profiles

  1. Allow TeslaMirror notifications in App info → Notifications. Expand a collapsed notification to find Pair; do not just tap its title.
  2. Allow local network access if separately requested. The Android 16 example does not need the permission that may appear on Android 17 or later.
  3. If Data saver is enabled and background networking stops, inspect TeslaMirror’s background data setting and any option allowing data use while Data saver is on. Adjust only the relevant app, then confirm the hotspot stays enabled. Samsung connection settings
  4. Begin in the personal main user profile. If using Secure Folder, a work profile, or an organization-managed phone, check the installation location and any policy message. Disabling Knox or deleting a work profile is not a requirement.
  5. Always On Display, fingerprint settings, and screen-lock timeout are not established universal permission requirements. If failure occurs only in one state, record the original settings and change one factor at a time for comparison.

2.5 Finding the settings on a German phone (de-DE)

Use these as menu names or search terms. Except for Samsung’s documented Auto Blocker terminology, translations may vary with firmware. Settings search is often the easiest route.

Purpose English Common German name / search term
Open system settings Settings Einstellungen
Device information About phone Telefoninfo
Software details Software information Softwareinformationen
Enable developer mode Build number Buildnummer
Developer settings Developer options Entwickleroptionen
ADB over Wi-Fi Wireless debugging Drahtloses Debugging
Generate a pairing code Pair device with pairing code Mit Kopplungscode koppeln / Kopplungscode
Security settings Security and privacy Sicherheit und Datenschutz
Samsung security feature Auto Blocker Automatische Sperre
Additional blocking options Maximum restrictions Maximale Einschränkungen
Notification permission Notifications Benachrichtigungen
Battery settings Battery Akku
App battery exemption Unrestricted Uneingeschränkt
Sleeping-app management Background usage limits Grenzen der Hintergrundnutzung
Deep sleeping apps Deep sleeping apps Apps im tiefen Standby
Never sleeping apps Never sleeping apps Apps, die nie im Standby sind / Nie automatisch im Standby

Here, Automatische Sperre means Auto Blocker in the security settings. It does not mean the screen-lock timeout or a SIM lock. The documented path is Einstellungen → Sicherheit und Datenschutz → Automatische Sperre. Samsung Germany

2.6 Galaxy S25 / SM-S931B, Android 16, and TeslaMirror 9.87

Information supplied What it establishes
SM-S931B Galaxy S25; do not confuse it with Galaxy S25+ / SM-S936B
Android 16 / API 36 Meets the Android 11+ version prerequisite; does not prove that all display and background capabilities have been tested
de-DE language Use the German menu terms above; language is not a model permission or allowlist condition
TeslaMirror 9.87 Predates the 9.90 workflow in this guide and does not include all later screen-off recovery improvements

You can follow this guide to authorize and test that phone. This example explains how to check the model and version; it does not confirm that every feature works on that combination. Screen-off recovery still depends on the phone’s capabilities, system settings, and TeslaMirror version.

First update to a version that includes the screen-off recovery improvements. Then check in order: wireless debugging can be enabled → pairing succeeds → local service becomes ready → unlocked casting works → browser screen-off works → automatic recovery after system sleep works. Record the step that fails; “all permissions enabled” is not a compatibility result.

3. Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO

3.1 Developer options and wireless debugging

  1. Open Settings → About phone. On HyperOS, look for Detailed info and specs / OS version; on MIUI, look for All specs / MIUI version. Tap the relevant system version field, not an arbitrary Android logo.
  2. Tap repeatedly until developer mode is enabled.
  3. Return to Settings → Additional settings → Developer options.
  4. Enable Wireless debugging and complete the common pairing steps. See Xiaomi’s developer-mode instructions for an example path.

3.2 The separate USB debugging security switch

If video works but browser taps or swipes do not, or an error mentions INJECT_EVENTS or insufficient permissions:

  1. Open Developer options and find the separate USB debugging (Security settings) switch, sometimes called Security options.
  2. Enable that security option and follow its system prompts. It is different from ordinary USB debugging and Install via USB.
  3. Restart the phone after changing the setting. Then re-enable Wireless debugging, check the connection, and wait for service readiness again.
  4. Test browser taps and swipes again.

Despite “USB” in its name, the setting can restrict ADB control, so it is relevant to wireless ADB too. See the ADB tool maintainer guidance for related restrictions. The available switch may differ between Xiaomi software releases.

If your firmware requests a manufacturer account or another confirmation, handle that locally through its official prompts. This guide does not make a SIM card or a particular account a universal Xiaomi prerequisite. If the switch is absent, record the model and software version rather than disabling MIUI optimization / System optimization as a substitute.

3.3 Background activity and possible background-window restrictions

  1. Long-press TeslaMirror → App info. For continuous casting, look for No restrictions in its battery policy. Xiaomi background power guidance
  2. Look for Autostart / Background autostart in App info or Apps → Permissions. Allow TeslaMirror if the option exists; some versions manage this through the Security app. Xiaomi permission structure
  3. If unlocked casting and manual browser screen-off work, but the automatic recovery activity cannot appear after system sleep, inspect TeslaMirror’s Other permissions for options such as background pop-up windows or showing on the lock screen. This is symptom-based troubleshooting, not a verified requirement for every HyperOS device. Change only a TeslaMirror setting that exists and whose description matches the behavior, then retest.
  4. Xiaomi documentation for another product mentions background pop-up permission. That confirms the type of restriction, not TeslaMirror compatibility, and does not justify copying that product’s photo or health permissions. Related Xiaomi guidance
  5. If a system optimization action hides Developer options or stops notifications, recheck the relevant switches instead of immediately clearing app data or reinstalling.

3.4 Is Install via USB required?

Do not treat Install via USB as required for normal TeslaMirror Single-app Casting. Follow the in-app local service preparation steps; you do not need to install a second APK through ADB. The installation switch is relevant only to a separate installation task, such as installing an APK from a computer, when the phone explicitly requires it. Another product’s installation tutorial is not TeslaMirror’s permission checklist.

4. OPPO / ColorOS

4.1 Find Developer options

  1. Open Settings → About device → Version.
  2. Tap Version No. / Build number about seven times and complete the on-device confirmation.
  3. Find Developer options. OPPO’s examples place it under System & update on ColorOS 14.1–16, Additional settings on 13–14, and System settings on 12. For overlapping versions, follow the actual phone interface. OPPO’s official menu guide
  4. Enable Wireless debugging and complete the common setup.

4.2 Paired successfully, but ADB operations are restricted

An ADB tool maintainer documents a Permission monitoring restriction on some ColorOS systems. This supports troubleshooting; it does not mean every OPPO phone must have the setting disabled. Shizuku maintainer guidance

  1. First rule out an expired pairing code or a local service that has not finished preparing.
  2. If ADB operations are still denied, look in Developer options for Disable permission monitoring.
  3. If the label begins with “Disable,” turning the switch ON disables monitoring. If it is simply called Permission monitoring, follow its description to turn monitoring off. Do not decide from switch color alone.
  4. If the setting exists and can be changed, read its explanation, adjust it, then return to TeslaMirror to check the connection and start casting again.
  5. If this makes no difference, restore the original state and record the error. If the option does not exist, do not install an unknown “unlocking” tool.

This is a system-level restriction on ADB, not just an ordinary TeslaMirror app permission. You do not need to install Shizuku to use TeslaMirror.

4.3 Background interruptions

Long-press TeslaMirror → App info, then look in the phone’s battery or background management screen for Allow background activity. If Allow auto-launch is also offered, you can enable it for TeslaMirror and compare behavior. Skip settings that do not exist; disabling system optimization globally is not a substitute. Missing pairing notifications should first lead to notification checks, while a stream stopping after sleep should lead to background checks.

5. OnePlus: OxygenOS and ColorOS

  1. Open Settings → About device → Version and tap Version number repeatedly to enable Developer options. A recent official OxygenOS example uses System & update → Developer options; older releases may use System or Additional settings. Official OnePlus OxygenOS FAQ
  2. Connect to trusted Wi-Fi, enable Wireless debugging, and follow the common steps. Wait for the local service to become ready.
  3. If paired but input control or other ADB operations are denied, check for Disable permission monitoring in Developer options. Maintainer guidance includes OnePlus in the relevant ColorOS restriction, but that does not establish that every OxygenOS version has the switch. ADB restriction guidance
  4. If the option exists and the symptom matches, follow the OPPO switch explanation, then retest before deciding to retain the change. If absent, do not force the instructions onto a different setting.
  5. If casting stops only when backgrounded or asleep, open TeslaMirror’s App info → Battery and select the available Unrestricted or Allow background activity option. If separate autostart management exists, allow TeslaMirror there too.
  6. If pairing still fails after relevant checks, stop the current preparation, toggle Wireless debugging off and on, generate a new pairing code, and retry through the notification. Repeated pairing failure by itself is not proof that the phone model is unsupported.

Chinese-market ColorOS and international OxygenOS should be configured according to their actual menus. The OnePlus brand alone does not determine every permission requirement.

6. realme

  1. Open Settings → About device / About phone → Version information, then tap Version number repeatedly to enable Developer options. Look under System settings or Additional settings for the developer menu. The official realme example describes older software; use Settings search if a newer version changes the path.
  2. Enable Wireless debugging and follow the common steps for notification pairing and local service preparation.
  3. If pairing or casting stops after leaving the app, long-press TeslaMirror → App info and look in battery / background management for Allow background activity or Unrestricted. Allow TeslaMirror in autostart management if offered. Follow the menus present on your phone; no single path is asserted for every realme UI release.
  4. If pairing works but ADB operations are denied, check whether Developer options contains Disable permission monitoring. With that negative wording, enabling the switch removes the restriction.
  5. Step 4 is based on an individual user’s troubleshooting experience. It is not an official realme requirement for TeslaMirror or a result verified across all versions. Try it only when the option exists and the symptom matches; restore the original setting if it does not help.
  6. A missing permission-monitoring switch does not mean you must disable System optimization. Pairing also does not justify enabling every pop-up, installation-source, or device-administrator permission.

7. vivo: OriginOS / Funtouch OS

7.1 Developer options and pairing

  1. Search Settings for Software version or Build number. Some official vivo manuals use System management → About phone → Software version; others use About phone → Build number.
  2. Tap the version field about seven times, complete any local confirmation, and find Developer options under System management, System, or System management & upgrade.
  3. If Wireless debugging is available, connect to trusted Wi-Fi and follow the common pairing steps.

These manual paths are examples, not a guarantee that every newer OriginOS release puts the option in the same location. Official vivo manual example one, example two

7.2 Background permissions for continuous casting

  1. Under Settings → Apps & permissions → Permission management, look for Autostart and allow TeslaMirror. Newer versions may provide the entry through App info.
  2. Under Settings → Battery, find Background power consumption management / High background power consumption. Select TeslaMirror and allow background operation.
  3. If clearing recent apps often stops TeslaMirror, lock its card in the recent-apps screen using the gesture or menu offered by the phone. A locked card does not guarantee that the system will never end the process. Official vivo background guidance
  4. If only automatic recovery after screen-off fails, inspect TeslaMirror’s individual permissions for an option allowing a background activity or pop-up. Test it only if present; it is not another name for accessibility or drawing over other apps. Vivo’s developer help documents this kind of restriction, but does not establish that TeslaMirror requires the option on every model. Vivo developer help

No sufficient evidence was found to make Disable permission monitoring a universal vivo requirement. Do not copy OPPO’s switch list. If errors remain after pairing, record the actual error message and investigate that restriction.

8. iQOO

Follow the OriginOS / Funtouch OS menus actually installed on your iQOO phone. The steps below use official vivo guidance for the same system family as a navigation reference; they are not a claim that every iQOO menu was checked on a device.

  1. Search Settings for About phone and Software version. Tap the appropriate version field repeatedly and follow the phone’s prompts to enable Developer options.
  2. Find Developer options → Wireless debugging, connect to trusted Wi-Fi, and pair using the six-digit code through the TeslaMirror notification.
  3. Find Battery → Background power consumption management / High background power consumption and allow TeslaMirror to run in the background.
  4. Find TeslaMirror’s Autostart setting if provided. Allow it, then check whether the pairing notification and background casting remain available.
  5. If only automatic recovery fails, check for an app-specific restriction on opening activities from the background. This does not require opening permissions for all apps.
  6. Return to TeslaMirror, wait for local service readiness, and use the verification sequence to check both screen-off paths.

See vivo’s background guidance for the basis and menu context. There is no basis here for requiring every iQOO user to disable permission monitoring, disable system security optimization, or unlock the bootloader.

9. HUAWEI

9.1 Check the actual system prerequisites

  1. Confirm the phone can run the current Android edition of TeslaMirror and that the app considers it eligible for Single-app Casting.
  2. Check that the system actually offers Wireless debugging and a pairing-code entry. A name such as EMUI 11 or HarmonyOS 4 is not the Android API version.
  3. If the system cannot run the Android app or lacks the required wireless debugging feature, granting more ordinary permissions cannot supply that missing capability. HDB / Allow HiSuite to use HDB is not a replacement for ADB pairing.

9.2 Setup on a device that provides the required features

  1. Use the phone’s main owner profile. Tap Build number in About phone repeatedly to enable developer mode, then look under System & updates for Developer options. Huawei notes that developer settings may be available only to the owner user. Huawei debugging guidance
  2. If Wireless debugging is available, follow the common setup.
  3. If the app is repeatedly stopped in the background, open App launch management, find TeslaMirror, turn off automatic management for that app, and manually allow Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background.
  4. If using a Battery optimization list, read the dialog carefully: Don’t allow can mean do not allow battery optimization of the app, rather than prohibit the app from running. Huawei background-app guidance
  5. Return to TeslaMirror, check the connection, and test background casting again.

Huawei documents Allow ADB debugging in charge only mode for relevant USB debugging situations. Do not turn that into a universal requirement for wireless pairing on all Huawei phones; handle it when the phone actually reports that restriction. This guide does not require removing organization management or flashing firmware to obtain missing capabilities.

10. HONOR / MagicOS

  1. Open Settings → About phone and tap Build number about seven times to enable developer mode. You can also search Settings for Build number. Official HONOR developer-mode guide
  2. Search Settings for Developer options, open Wireless debugging, connect to trusted Wi-Fi, and complete the common pairing workflow.
  3. Open Settings → Apps → App launch management and find TeslaMirror. If automatically managed, switch that app to manual management and allow Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background.
  4. If the phone offers locking an app card in recent apps, you can use it for TeslaMirror. This reduces the effect of manual cleanup; it does not replace wireless debugging authorization. Official HONOR background guidance
  5. Reopen TeslaMirror, wait for service readiness, and test both unlocked and screen-off operation.

Modern HONOR / MagicOS devices should not automatically inherit every debugging requirement of older Huawei phones. Without an actual system prompt, do not assume HDB, charge-only ADB, or disabling all permission monitoring is required. If organization policy disables a menu, follow the message and contact the device administrator.

11. Google Pixel

  1. Open Settings → About phone and tap Build number seven times.
  2. Return to Settings → System → Developer options, connect to trusted Wi-Fi, and enable Wireless debugging.
  3. Follow the common steps to pair through the TeslaMirror notification and wait for the offline casting service to become ready.
  4. If background operation stops, inspect TeslaMirror’s battery / background usage settings in App info and confirm the app was not force-stopped manually.
  5. Use the verification sequence to test manual browser screen-off and automatic recovery after system sleep separately. Menu reference: Android documentation.

Display and background behavior can vary between Pixel models and Android versions. Check normal casting, manual browser screen-off, and recovery after system sleep separately on your own phone.

12. Meizu and other brands

Meizu / Flyme

Start with the common pairing and background checks. An ADB tool maintainer has listed Flyme payment protection as a possible restriction on ADB. This does not show that every current Flyme version has the option, or establish a universal TeslaMirror requirement. Maintainer guidance

If your phone displays a payment-protection message directly related to debugging, record the model, Flyme version, and error, then check the phone’s official instructions. This guide does not make disabling payment protection an initial setup step. Without a reliable current menu path, do not guess using names from another brand.

Motorola, Sony, ASUS, Nothing, ZTE / nubia, Lenovo, and others

This review did not find sufficient evidence to prescribe a separate manufacturer-specific extra permission for TeslaMirror on each of these brands. Start with the common steps: Developer options, Wireless debugging, pairing notifications, and service readiness. Then inspect the phone’s background restrictions for TeslaMirror.

“No special requirement found” does not mean every model has been tested. If Wireless debugging is absent, an administrator blocks it, or display capabilities are unavailable, record that actual behavior rather than copying another manufacturer’s security switches.

13. Check your setup in this order

Use an ordinary app you are comfortable casting, with a picture that keeps changing. Avoid protected content when deciding whether permissions are correct. These are suggested checks for your phone, not a claim that the author performed them on your device.

  1. Unlocked baseline: Unlock the phone normally and start Single-app Casting. Select an app in the browser, watch moving content, and try a tap and a swipe. Check sound if needed.
  2. Background baseline: Keep the browser connected, let TeslaMirror run in the phone’s background, and observe for about two minutes. If it already stops, investigate background and network restrictions before testing screen-off recovery.
  3. Manual browser screen-off: Use the webpage’s screen-off button. Check the phone panel and browser picture, then restore the screen using the webpage’s screen-on / restore action. Manually turning the panel off does not itself mean TeslaMirror locks the phone.
  4. Recovery after system sleep: Confirm normal unlocked casting again, then press the phone’s power button normally or wait for the system timeout. Observe recovery status and whether media continues. A locked device and a powered-off panel are different states; if unlocking is required, unlock normally before continuing.
  5. If recovery fails: Restore the screen, unlock, and read the error first. Automatic recovery may pause after failure. Use the retry action if offered, or unlock normally and check again. Do not rapidly repeat screen-off events to force success.
  6. Finish normally: Restore the phone screen, stop casting, confirm the phone is usable, and then leave the webpage.

Manual browser controls for turning the phone display off and on may still work when automatic recovery is unavailable, depending on the phone’s capabilities and current state. If an older version reports that recovery is unsupported, check for an app update and follow the on-screen instructions.

14. Troubleshoot by symptom

Symptom What to try first
Wireless debugging is missing Check Android version and Single-app Casting eligibility; enable Developer options and search again. Ordinary permissions cannot replace a missing feature or administrator approval
Wireless debugging is unavailable Confirm trusted Wi-Fi and the Developer options master switch; on Samsung, inspect any actual Auto Blocker warning. Contact the administrator for organization restrictions
Pairing notification never appears Start again from TeslaMirror’s Pair / check connection; allow notifications, check notification categories, and expand the notification
Pairing code is always rejected Keep the system pairing dialog open and enter its new six-digit code through the notification action. Do not open the app by tapping the notification body or use the screen-lock PIN
Pairing service cannot be found Keep Wi-Fi and the pairing dialog active; check background restrictions. If needed, compare on another trusted Wi-Fi network and inspect VPN / network filtering
Paired, but local service is not ready Wait for preparation; read the specific error and check the connection. A saved pairing does not establish that ADB is currently reachable
Casting fails after restarting the phone Re-enable Wireless debugging, authorize the network, check the connection, and wait for service readiness. Re-pair only if authorization expired or was removed
Video works, but taps do not On Xiaomi, check the separate USB debugging security setting. On OPPO / OnePlus, investigate permission monitoring if the error matches. Do not immediately enable an accessibility service
Casting stops in the background or the notification disappears Check battery, sleeping-app, and autostart settings for the brand; confirm no Force stop or cleanup action was used
Unlocked casting works, automatic screen-off recovery fails Test manual browser screen-off separately, then check relevant background or background-window restrictions. Record the actual reason rather than assuming every failure means a missing permission
Manual browser screen-off fails Check that the webpage is current and follow any Reload prompt. Record display-capability, connection, or cleanup errors. Test manual control separately when automatic recovery is unavailable
Browser cannot open the page Confirm the browser is on the phone’s hotspot, Tesla Proxy is enabled, casting has started, and the full address is correct. Check custom proxy, DNS, or hosts rules for an incorrect destination; do not disable certificate verification
Domain resolution fails with Shadowsocks or another proxy Inspect the proxy’s own hosts / DNS rules; changing system DNS may not override them. Correct only the relevant test mapping, preserve the original configuration, and do not copy an arbitrary private IP address from the internet
Picture but no sound Check browser audio, phone media volume, and Stream sound in TeslaMirror. Keep the phone unlocked when starting audio capture on Android 11. A target app’s capture policy may not be solved by granting microphone permission
Only one video or app is black Compare with ordinary unprotected content. Content protection, the target app’s policy, decoding, or display behavior can cause this; extra permissions are not a guaranteed fix
Cleanup unconfirmed / cleanup_unconfirmed Restore the screen and stop casting as instructed. If a new casting session still cannot start, fully exit the app and retry. If the problem persists, restart the phone and prepare the service again

An ordinary recovery failure may only pause automatic attempts. A cleanup-unconfirmed message can also prevent a new casting session. Restore the phone display, follow the error instructions, and restart the phone if needed.

For support, provide brand, exact model, Android version, manufacturer software version, TeslaMirror version and build, the failing step, and the error text. State separately whether unlocked casting, manual browser screen-off, and recovery after system sleep work. Redact notifications, accounts, pairing codes, and private content from screenshots. PINs, passwords, IMEI numbers, and device serial numbers are not needed.

15. Stop using the service or revoke authorization

  1. Restore the phone panel using the webpage or TeslaMirror’s restore-screen action, then stop casting normally.
  2. To end retained preparation too, open TeslaMirror’s Settings page, use Exit App at the top right, and confirm when prompted. This ends casting, revokes the current preparation, and stops Tesla Proxy. Closing the webpage or pressing the phone’s Home button is not a full exit.
  3. When no longer using wireless debugging, switch it off in Developer options. To revoke saved trust, identify the corresponding client in Wireless debugging → Paired devices and select Forget / Unpair.
  4. Avoid revoking every debugging authorization indiscriminately; that can affect your other authorized tools. Turning off the Developer options master switch may also affect the next preparation. Disabling Wireless debugging alone does not prove every running local service has ended, so complete step 2 when you want a full shutdown.
  5. If you changed Auto Blocker, permission monitoring, or background policies, restore their previous state as appropriate for your use. Restoring restrictions can affect future casting, so check the connection again next time.
  6. Normal revocation does not require clearing TeslaMirror data, resetting the phone, or unlocking the bootloader.

16. References and compatibility

The public manufacturer documentation linked above helps you find menus and understand settings. ADB tool maintainer guidance and individual user experiences are conditional troubleshooting references. Menus vary by phone, region, and software version; another app’s settings are not automatically TeslaMirror requirements.

This guide does not establish compatibility for every brand or model. Follow the verification sequence to check unlocked casting, manual browser screen-off, and recovery after system sleep separately. Meeting the Android version requirement or pairing successfully does not mean every feature is ready. For help, contact TeslaMirror support.
